SS2012
Where do you want to wake up tomorrow? If you wake up in a sharing community, what kind of products should it be involved? In this project, Savoy and I try to find out definition of sharing. And It is my final year project for Higher Diploma which aims to promote how modern people live in a sharing community. A series of products are designed which are called Sharing Series 2012(SS2012). One product is Sharing Lighting and another one is Sharing Music.

Inspiration —
After watching a TV programme called Where Do You Want to Wake Up Tomorrow? My teammate and I decided to find out meaning of sharing behind the programme. We brainstormed the definition of sharing which led us to have a better understanding of sharing.

Brainstorming —
We thought about what kinds of product we need when we live in a sharing community and how we use the product. Finally, we came to the idea by tracking the living pattern of two designers, which were Savoy and I.

Idea alignment —
We always got back home late because of work, but our parents were always waiting for us and wanted to share something with us. Since ideas were based on life experience of the two designers, 20 design students were invited for interview. We hoped to align the ideas with more users.

Scenario —
After analysing the interview, we designed a scenario showing users’ possible ways of using products. For Sharing Lighting, the scenario shows the sharing of light between different generations in a house. For Sharing Music, the scenario shows the sharing of a song between the same generation without border.

Mechanism —
The mechanism shows how the product works in the engineering part. For Sharing Lighting, it involves a bluetooth and a weight sensor. For Sharing Music, it involves cloud platform for music instant sharing, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for connection between products and the platform.

Final Product —
There are 3D drawings and rendering by using SolidWorks. Final product includes a pair of music box; a lamp and a pad.
